Meet Your Candidate

My name is Valerie Taber and I was born and raised in Redlands. I attended Smiley Elementary, Cope Middle School, and Redlands High School in our district before earning my Bachelor’s at Cal State San Bernardino and my Master’s from the University of Redlands. I’m also a proud parent of a Kingsbury Bear who is thrilled to have my own kid grow up in our beautiful City of Redlands. I practice what I preach regarding family involvement their student’s education - I am a member of the Kingsbury PTA and the district-wide Special Education PTA (SEPTA), and served on the Kingsbury School Site Council as Vice President for the 2023-2024 year.

In addition to being a product of our local public schools and having a student in our district, I come from a family of teachers and have an extensive history working with youth and families in our community. I worked for years at our local Redlands YMCA and currently, am a therapist specializing in working with youth and their families.

My Why

Our public schools gave me the foundation to pursue my career goals and this is a huge part of why I am running this campaign. Education is the foundation of our society, and I know my life was made better in so many ways by the teachers, clubs, and programs of our school district. I am passionate about making sure that my own child, and that ALL our children, have the same access that I did to quality public education. As a mother of a student in our district, a daughter of teachers, and a therapist I care for our community, and look forward to working together with you to protect and further public education for us all.

“I am invested in developing strong community ties between parents, teachers, and students.
I would be honored to represent our district on the Redlands Unified School District Board.”
